Tuttosport: Chukwueze could get chance for redemption against Slavia Praha

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli could give Samuel Chukwueze a chance to prove his worth in a red and black shirt against Slavia Praha on Thursday after a tough first season for the club.

As reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Nigerian winger may get the nod on the right wing ahead of Christian Pulisic so that the American can have a well-earned rest.

Chukwueze was Milan’s most expensive summer signing as he could end up costing the club €28m with the bonuses included, but he has failed to make the desired impact.

That is partly down to Pulisic’s great form keeping him out of the side, and his time at the Africa Cup of Nations, but when he has played it has not yielded the results many expected.

Rafael Leao and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will both start as they will be suspended for the following Serie A match against Empoli, whilst Tijjani Reijnders is expected to start in midfield with one of Yacine Adli or Ismael Bennacer alongside.

Alessandro Florenzi is expected to start at right-back as he is suspended for the weekend, with Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbia at centre-back and Theo Hernandez at left-back. Olivier Giroud should start ahead of Luka Jovic.

  1. RLC suspended too? Perfect time to try a 3-5-2 then with Jovic & Okafor up front. Theo as a left back and we won’t regret missing Leao that much.

    1. Father Pioli hasn’t effed around enough with a 3-5-2 to actually deploy it. 5-0-5 More his cup of tea.

But two upfront wouldn’t be a bad idea as an alternative. Theo on the left, puli on the right, with Reijnders/Bennacer/Adli in midfield. Could even try Tomori/Thiaw/Gabbia as a back three.
