Tuttosport: Counterparts and competition – Milan will try again for Torino star

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to spend big on a striker in the summer but they could also invest a significant amount in a centre-back too, with Alessandro Buongiorno still a target.

According to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan), Torino will not sit at the negotiating table unless a bid of €40m or more comes in for Buongiorno, who would be open to taking the next step in his career but only if the right opportunity for himself and the club arrives.

Big Italian teams are keen on him but they face strong competition from the Premier League teams. Inter do not have the finances to offer Urbano Cairo €40m, unless they make a big sale like Bastoni.

The Nerazzurri could try a loan with obligation to buy deal that includes one or two counterparts: Martin Satriano, returning from a good season on loan at Brest and Francesco Pio Esposito, on loan at Spezia.

Milan will make an attempt for Buongiorno. The Rossoneri could offer the left-footed central defender Marco Pellegrino who is currently on loan at Salernitana, but also the Serbian defender Jan-Carlo Simic.

Filippo Terracciano and Lorenzo Colombo are also named by the paper as potential counterparts. The race for the Torino captain, however, should take place after the European Championship is over.

  1. Hopefully Simic is not in our transfer market plans, I would prefer to keep him and use him more often as substitute in the first team. We also need to start seeing more often Bartesaghi, instead of Florenzi on the left.

  2. If Milan who are now back near the top of the league and regularly competing in the CL can’t attract one of Italy’s most promising defenders then there’s a big problem. Yes he may cost
More than someone playing in Ligue 1 or Germany, but we have the set out our stall on where we want to be. I firmly believe Milan should have a strong core of Italian players. Just as city should have an English core and Bayern a German one.

  3. This is why for me the premier league doesn’t compare to 80s and 90s Serie A. I’m it’s prime, the league was dominated by strong Italian players, Baresi, Maldini, Costacurta, Tassotti, Albertini, Ancelotti, Donadoni, Baggio, Pirlo, Bergomi Vialli, Mancini, Del Piero, Totti, De Rossi, Giannini, Canavarro, Buffon, Pagliuica….and the list is vastly longer… who were all world classes

The premier league hs always been built on foreign money and foreign talent. The best players in premier league history are disproportionately foreign. There is more English talent now but we are 30 years into the premier league. The one man who turned that around was Ferguson by trusting in youth with the class of 92. I hope we do the same with Zeroli, Camarda, Bartesaghi etc

    1. Nerazurri doing the same thing too. But i will prefer ACM offer colombo ( not in pioli plan next season ) + pelegrino + 20m euro for bungi.

  4. If Inter gets Buongiorno they will have the best defense main and substitute line by far.

    Bastoni- Buongiorno- Pavard

Carlos – Acerbi- Bisseck, Darmian as subs

Luckily they have to dig deep to get that money.

  5. What is it about Simic that makes them want to include the kid as a bargaining chip?

What are we not seeing in him?
