Tuttosport: De Ketelaere has tough night against Milan despite positive season

Atalanta forward Charles De Ketelaere was expected to be one of the main protagonists against AC Milan on Sunday night but he failed to make any real impact on the game.

The Belgian forward is currently on loan at Atalanta from Milan and could be joining La Dea permanently in the summer, so there was a lot of attention on him ahead of the Serie A clash on Sunday.

As Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan) has highlighted, the performance from De Ketelaere in front of his parent club actually ended up being one of his worst this season, in what has been a really successful campaign.

He set up a decent chance for Teun Koopmeiners in the first half but that was the extent of his positive involvement, and Gian Piero Gasperini actually took him off at half-time and replaced him with Ademola Lookman. The match ended 1-1 after a Koopmeiners penalty cancelled out Rafael Leao’s opener.

This performance should not do much to impact his future given it seems inevitable Atalanta will pay the optional fee at the end of the season to sign him permanently from Milan.

That aside, De Ketelaere will be annoyed at having missed the opportunity to run the game against his parent club, something that would have really marked his progress in Italian football.
