AC Milan are looking for a new deputy left-back ahead of the upcoming season as Fode Ballo-Toure is expected to leave the club, eventually anyway. Two names are high up on the Rossoneri’s wish list, a report claims.
Ballo-Toure has been linked with several clubs since the start of the summer and the fact is that quite a few offers have arrived. However, it’s been hard to convince the Senegalese international thus far, but he’s still expected to leave.
As reported by today’s edition of Tuttosport (see photo below), Milan have set their sights above all on Basel’s Riccardo Calafiori and Salernitana’s Pasquale Mazzocchi. The newspaper describes it as ‘a duel’ between the two.
Calafiori, at the age of 21, has played solely on the left-hand side of the defence in his career. Mazzocchi, on the other hand, with a few more years under his belt (28) is comfortable playing on both sides of the defence even if he’s primarily a right-back.
Pretty sure Calafiori can play as CB too. Both are good options precisely because they can play other positions, so they won’t rot on the bench as Theo backups.
Actually if we can, get both…
Calafiori as LB deputy, and Mazzochi can replace Florenzi as RB backup /or potential starter as Calabria is a bit injury prone.
Mazzocchi won’t command huge waves either. And yes he’s more a RB if anything.
