Tuttosport: Fonseca not at risk for now but Allegri idea could gather steam

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have collected just two points from their first three games of the season which has led to speculation about Paulo Fonseca’s future, and a report has put forward Max Allegri’s name again.

Sky are reporting that Milan hope the international break will do them good because when the games resume there will be a huge trio of fixtures at San Siro with Venezia, Liverpool and Inter all within a week.

After those three games ‘Fonseca’s position will be evaluated’, even if at the moment there is ‘no desire or intention to change coach’ despite what has been a worst start to the season in terms of points from the first three games since the start of WWII.

According to Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com), Allegri is waiting for the chance to return to coaching a top side after leaving Juventus and there might be the opportunity to do that by returning to his former club Milan.

Fonseca is not at risk of being sacking immediately, but it seems that his position is already less certain than a couple of weeks ago, and the big games against Liverpool and Inter after the international break will be key.

If the wait for a first win were to go on too long, Allegri’s candidacy would gain more and more esteem among the management as per the newspaper.

    1. Allegri is a proven coach, Even in his worst season with Juventus he won coppa Italia he won alot of trophies even with ac Milan he won the league back in 2011 , I don’t care if he plays ugly football I just want to win. Beating inter 1-0 in an ugly way is infinite times better than getting destroyed 5-1

          1. no Ancelotti didn’t get fired from Milan but he didn’t want to stay wanted to try another league learn the facts about it

  1. Sack fonsesca before we embarrass ourselves anymore. get sergio conceicao, he’s won 12 trophies in the last 14 years which is really good, and he was manager of the year in Portugal in 21/22 season, and for Porto he had 2.29 PPG (points per game) in the time frame of 7 years. If you ask me I would really like that

      1. Agreed no Allegri please. He’s like Mourinho, passed his expiry date.

Conceicao would be reasonable, or even Sarri. Either way this is another “transition” season under Redbird, feels like we’ll be permanently stuck in this every year as the aim is only to finish top 4 + in profit.

These are good targets as a business, or for smaller sides like Atalanta. With our history the fans expect more but perhaps those days of battling for UCL trophy is gone 😞

        1. It is not just redbird that targeted top 4 finish. Even Elliot target was top 4. But Maldini and Massara, along with the team back then was doing miracle.

        2. Yes Yes, you expected that from 2012 to 2020. It’s just not clear to me where these geniuses come from 🤣🤣🤣. Let’s go back to the Berlusconi family and buy stars like Costant, Traore, Luiz Adriano, etc.

          1. I think you’re backing up my point. Yes the fans expected Milan to challenge for European trophies and no those years did not live up to expectations. Hence they were known as the banter era.

I’m saying instead of being a global force, Milan turns into an Atalanta ie trading players to keep slightly in profit and aiming for top 4. It’s the new reality we have to get used to rather than dream of adding to our 7 European cups.

  2. It didn’t take long for this topic to be back on the table. Hope Sarri gets back into fashion should we start playing musical chairs…

    1. There’s no need to wait until after the international break. Fonseca has loss control of the dressing room and should be sacked before the international break.

      1. This is the best time to sack Fonseca the new manager would have 2 weeks to prepare, waiting until the end of derby would only increase the gap between us and the leaders in the league and would cost us 3 points in the European cup match against mo Liverpool

      2. Allegri in 2010 demanded from Galiani and Berlusconi to sell Ronaldinho because he was lazy, unprofessional and bad for the locker room.
That was Allegri without a single trophy to his name.
What do you think today’s Allegri, with 6 scudetti and a bunch of other trophies would do with the current cancers in the dressing room?
Not to mention that Allegri will most likely make the same or more money than both Bozos.

        1. Ronaldinho in 2010 was past his prime and older than theo and leao none of them had reached 27 yet , I wouldn’t call them cancers they just need a strong personality to control them , this personality unfortunately doesn’t exist with Fonseca .

          1. A coach with strong personality will do the same thing Fonseca did, who, according to you doesn’t have that personality, BENCH THEM!!!
Allegri will bench them as well.

          2. Maybe this guy thinks Allegri will instead physically beat them up or something. You only bench them. You bench them as a warning. If still them won’t improve, you report to the management that you can’t work with them. They will have to be sold or you leave/contract terminated with your head held high. Fonseca may not be doing well on the pitch but his on the right side against Leao and Theo who feel like they can behave anyhow they like without consequences. Their nonsenses won’t be tolerated at Real Madrid or Bayern. We are Milan.

        2. Allegri would have won against Torino and parma , leao and theo would have improved performance therefore they would have started against Lazio, it is due to Fonseca weak personality that leao and theo were lazy against parma, you don’t give 100% of your energy if you don’t have respect for your Coach

          1. Was Allegri going to run back on defense instead of Theo or score instead of Leao.
Is Leao bad at finishing 1v1 because he doesn’t have respect for his coaches? He was bad at it under Pioli as well, just like under whoever was his coach for Portugal.

        3. As far as I remember, leao looked more dangerous under pioli than Fonseca, the same for theo, allegri would have improved them at least slightly more he is a better coach than pioli and Fonseca for sure

          1. Are you comparing what coach they looked better under when they played under Pioli for 5 years and under Fonseca for 2 games?
What are we talking about here?

        4. Well you have a point, it is not exactly fair to compare their performance under pioli for 5 years versus 2 games under new coach, but the problem with Fonseca is not just the performance of leao and theo , I mean even giampaolo had better start than Fonseca , let alone that terrible cooling break incident, iam sure this would never happened with allegri or another strong coach

          1. Under Allegri or another strong coach Hernández and Leao would have been subbed off after they were just subbed on for what they did during the cooling break.

        5. Exactly, but if we assume that the management went for a stronger coach than Fonseca in first place, then most probably circumstances would have been totally different for Milan , we could have already collected at least 7 out of 9 points by now and the players including leao and theo would have greater respect for coach, and the cooling incident would never happen in first place

          1. A strong coach is Conceincao. De Zerbi. Mota. Not Allegri. I’m sure after a year of Mourinho being out of work people will already forget about how bad he’s been and will want clubs to hire him saying he’s won this and that. Cr@p. These coaches are outdated and done.

  3. Who writes this crap let alone think it….
Fonseca needs to sort his defence asap.
Give the captains armbands to a leader on the pitch otherwise, defending against Inter would be wholesale massacre. Sadly, for all the wrong reasons.

  4. Ronaldinho in 2010 was past his prime and older than theo and leao none of them had reached 27 yet , I wouldn’t call them cancers they just need a strong personality to control them , this personality unfortunately doesn’t exist with Fonseca .

  5. Why would a Club like a Milan hire Paulo Foncesca A manager who has little or no experience wit managing top clubs under pressure, of it were Conte after two games without a win he would have still managed to get the players together which we all saw how he did in the game against Parma who destroyed us , that’s the thing having a manager with the winning spirit , you mustn’t be a big name to be one but foncesca doesn’t even have the spirit in him to lead milan to glory , please sack him now and save this club ..

  6. Media pushing coaches again.
Then they’ll write how x y was available and milan hired a b.

F*ck Allegri. And f*ck his “proven winner” wannabe argument.

  7. Yeah no f*ck this dai!dai!dai manager who only know how to park a bus. He always blame the players when his strats doesn’t work. His name should be at the bottom of the list.

    1. If Fonseca turns this championship around, will you stop writing comments and start doing something smart? It’s a question for everyone commenting.

  8. Alegri football is ugly as hell, but I’ll take it in order get points and maybe reach top 4. Can’t ask for more with the current squad.

  9. See, milan has the worst issue of all, they have players that think they are bigger than the club. Like MU, PSG, Chelsea and many others, the longer this remains, the more it festers into the roots of the badge. After a certain point it cab become unadressable.

  10. While Fonseca is a huge part of the problem and yes I think he should have never been appointed manager in the first place, the bigger problem is the right side. Emerson Royal is the worst RB on the planet and makes Calabria look like a Balon Dor nominee. We need to fix this somehow or our season is over. Sacking Fonseca alone is not the answer. As for Allegri, he’s much more experienced coach than Fonseca, I’ll take him temporarily for one season if he’s the best we can get right now.

  11. Allegri? Never going to happen. Why? We’re already paying two coaches and Allegri wants even more than those two combined. And with Milan everything is about the finances. So… End of story. Nothing to discuss here.
