Tuttosport: Fulham sense opening for winger as Milan eye Orsolini signing

AC Milan have set their sights on Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolino for next season, according to a report, and it would leave Samuel Chukwueze with no space. Fulham are thus keeping a close eye on the situation.

Chukwueze joined Milan for €20m plus an additional €8m in bonuses back in the summer of 2023, following long negotiations with Villarreal. Eight goals and four assists later, in 66 appearances mind you, it’s clear that the winger has been subpar for the Rossoneri.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, as transcribed by MilanNews, Fulham expressed concrete interest already during the January window and they could come back into fashion. Especially since Milan are looking to sign Orsolini, who also plays on the right-hand side of the attack.

With Christian Pulisic and Orsolini as the right-wingers in the team, Milan would definitely have to offload Chukwueze, and the Nigerian would likely not want to stay. As such, there could be an opening for Fulham, or other interested clubs for that matter, to sign the 25-year-old at a good price.

Age and potential play in Milan’s favour here as despite two underwhelming seasons, Chukwueze still has a market to rely on. Not to mention that we have seen glimpses of what he can do on a good day. In fact, the report also states that there could be interest in Spain and Saudi Arabia.

  1. Orsolini is way too much expensive for almost 29 year old. So in couple of years he lose his prime. Better keep Saele

    1. Saelemakers is gonna be more of a RM, Jimenez becoming his sub. while Alexis can also cover Theo as LM as well as Jimenez. Musah might be given a final chance as RM, if not just sell in January and get Dominguez from Nottingham.

As for Orsolini, we’ll need a cover for Pulisic and that’s what he’s being discussed more. We’ll also need a sub for Leao. I think Mikautadze would be a smart buy. Can play as LW and ST, can score and assist… He would be a smart buy for 25M, when Lyon has financial issues…

      1. Jimenez is clearly going to be better than Saelemaekers, particularly at RWB if we play with a back 3. Also, people keep ignoring, for some reason, the fact that Saelemaeker has repeatedly said he’s happy in Rome. But if Salad does return, the one to “pay the price” will be Walker, as Salad and Jimenez would then compete for RWB, again assuming a 3-4-3. Even if we continue in 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 next season, they’d continue to overlap. Not a bad thing, but one of them will be on the bench, and I think they’d both expect to start. I’m sure Salad in particular is tired of being in and out of the Milan first team. If I were management, I’d just sell him and buy Madrid out of their option for Jimenez for another 10-15M and focused on him. Then I’d go out and get Zanotti as backup/competition.

        1. Walker is gonna be in the back 3… too old for RWB. if we sell Thiaw (35-40M) and get Comuzzo (30M plus Adli-Sottil swap) and Coppa (15-20M) we have 6 defenders for the back 3.

          Pavlovic – Gabbia – Comuzzo
          Tomori – Coppola – Walker

Alexis is also a AC Milan player until 2026 and he was unhappy with Fonseca, he never worked with Sergio, nor potentially Conte.

    2. He’s been one of the best wingers in Serie A over the past years, is an experienced Italian player and is affordable. He makes so much sense for this team that he should have been brought last summer or the one before to rotate with Pulisic. Instead it’s been expensive rubbish Chukwueze and Musah. And he has at least 3-4 years at peak form. Anyway there is a sense of urgency and this team can’t afford a new revolution from scratch with young players to develop. Top players are required. Adesso.

  2. Orsolini could have been signed at a fraction of his current value for the last several seasons. If he’s really the player we suddenly must have then is that another scouting fail, or is he someone like Sottil who would just disappear into the ether?

  3. We can’t sign Berardi when Sassuolo beat us. Now we must sign Orsolini, bc italian nt is quite rare these days.

  4. Why not go for Maxwell Ogedengbe, because of his deadly left foot. Mardrid and inter Miami are fighting over his signature.
