Tuttosport: Furlani officially takes over from Gazidis – his mission as CEO

By Oliver Fisher -

Today is officially the day that Ivan Gazidis is no longer the CEO of AC Milan and Giorgio Furlani has now taken up the positiion.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) describes it as an ‘important appointment’ that means Furlani will lead his favourite team, given that he grew up as a fan of Milan and will now be in charge of the commercial side of things.

It is not a leap of faith however as Furlani has been a member of the Board of Directors at Milan since 2018 and so the former portfolio manager for Elliott Management knows the club’s workings well.

It is a great challenge for Furlano but it is one that he wants to face with desire, determination and vision projected into the future. After the economic restoration, the aim is to increase revenues so the sporting competitiveness can also in turn increase.

The 2022 Scudetto is the milestone from which the club will start again, with Furlani already aware of how the systems work within the club, while Gazidis will take a break before evaluating the many offers he has received.
