Tuttosport: Gazidis has a busy summer agenda – revenues, sponsors and Financial Fair Play

By Oliver Fisher -

CEO Ivan Gazidis is engaged in a lot of different tasks that he wishes to try and get ticked off as soon as possible, a report claims.

According to Monday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the first objective on Gazidis’ list is to increase revenues, and the best method of doing that is to find new sponsorships.

Things are moving in the right direction, as they have moved from having a singular shirt sponsor (Emirates) to being able to sell the rights to sponsor the sleeve and the training gear.

Gazidis also has another idea in mind, in particular the hypothesis of selling the naming rights of the Milanello Sports Center.

Increasing revenues means having more resources for the market, but it is also important when discussing Financial Fair Play.

Milan’s 2019-20 balance will still be negative, but the losses have been reduced from €-146m to €-100m despite the Coronavirus. UEFA look very favourably upon improving trends, which essentially signifies a club’s willingness to improve their accounts.

In addition, UEFA will also take into consideration lost revenues due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which is another positive. A new Settlement Agreement will need to be found with European football’s governing body by 2021.
