Tuttosport: Giroud cancels déjà vu for Milan with crucial goal against Spezia

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan nearly dropped points to Spezia once again but thanks to Olivier Giroud, who came off the bench, they managed to win 2-1. The Frenchman thus cancelled Spezia’s celebrations and also the negative precedent.

It was three huge points for Milan last night as Napoli also won their game, beating Atalanta with the same scoreline as the Rossoneri. The gap is currently six points and the remaining two games are both must-wins for Milan ahead of the World Cup break.

As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), it was almost a deja-vu for Milan as in spite of creating loads of chance, the score was 1-1 heading into the final minutes. Giroud, fortunately, stepped up and cancelled the celebrations for the away side.

Another point the newspaper highlighted was Milan’s formation, officially listed as 4-2-3-1 but anything but that on the pitch. In possession, the Rossoneri clearly played with three at the back and Brahim Diaz was given a lot of space to roam free.
