Tuttosport: Giroud out for the Lazio game as Pioli studies four possible alternative strikers

By Oliver Fisher -

With Olivier Giroud out because of Covid and Zlatan Ibrahimovic having only just recovered, Stefano Pioli has some tough decisions to make.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Giroud will be forced to skip the Rossoneri’s next league match against Lazio, scheduled for September 12. The hope is that he will start testing negative quickly, but nonetheless Pioli will need to look at his approach against the Biancocelesti.

A lot will depend on the condition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who only returning to training with the rest of the squad two days ago having fully recovered after the knee operation on June 18th. Assuming he will start against Lazio seems far-fetched because of how long he has been out, but Zlatan has made previous miraculous recoveries and therefore there is a small chance he will be on the field from minute one.

Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic are candidates but both have shown last season that they are not their best in that position, and this is where Pietro Pellegri’s candidacy emerges, even if he too is not at 100%. Pioli will carefully observe all three and then choose who to play against Lazio.

  1. Meanwhile Hauge has 2 goals already in just 4 games…..Milan NEVER learn…stupidity…you should have kept Hauge and bought Faivre…not Messias…new season..same excuses…Juve is weak…Inter is weaker than last season..this is supposed to be our yr but we pinch money and now we have no quality to play.

    1. Two goals in THREE games, not four and Hauge goal wasn’t bring three points for Frankfurt!

Look at Frankfurt table right now: they at no 14! Lost badly against Dortmund and got two draw.

Seriously, some of you gave Hauge too much credit as if he already bring scudetto & champions leagues trophy for Milan.

Milan already agreed with Faivre but he have problem with his club. Blame Faivre.

Also, Messias have good statistics as a right wing and affordable for loan. If his not good then Milan can give him back to Crotone. But don’t judge him as a bad player BEFORE he plays with Milan shirt.

      1. No real problem with Club. His contract not expiring soon, Brest don’t want to sell him. He just trying to force sell him to Milan, actually there is no sale for Faivre from Brest.
Due to his behaviour only, club made some statements.
It was us who failed to land him and agree that Milan made a mistake by sending Hauge on loan with option to buy not in favour of Milan atleast buy back clause. He scored amazing goals than any player in Milan 2020-21 better than Zlatan goals.
Atleast he could have been sent on dry loan or sell him immidiately. I don’t understand the logic behind Hauge loan with option to buy in favour of Frankfurt. He has not been given chance to prove himself and sell him like a scrap and keeping Castellijo, krunic, Conti. That’s worse behaviour from club like Milan.
