Theo Hernandez is destined to leave AC Milan this summer, with his contract expiring next year, as the Rossoneri are confident he won’t leave on a free transfer.
Having failed to reach an agreement over a contract renewal, Milan and Hernandez are ready to part ways after six years together. It’s not the ending that most Rossoneri fans had imagined, given the Frenchman’s qualities, but now the best solution has to be found.

As reported by today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanPress), work is underway to find a new team for Hernandez, mainly by his own entourage. Milan have made it clear that a sale will be needed this summer, otherwise he will spend most of his time on the bench or in the stands.
Normally, this would have been a very risky approach as a club, but as the World Cup is scheduled for next summer, Hernandez can’t afford to take any risks himself. Not playing as a starter in the season before such a tournament would be a disaster for him.
In other words, Hernandez seeing out his contract at Milan is very unlikely. At the same time, the Rossoneri’s request of €20-25m will have to be met. Al-Hilal remains as an option, per Daniele Longo earlier today, and this is perhaps the club’s favourite solution given the €30m offer.
Regardless of how the situation will pan out, you have to say that Milan have handled everything dreadfully. Even more so with Mike Maignan who, despite many strong performances and a more modest renewal request (around €5m per year), was never renewed.

As he’s the BEST LB in the whole world, surely every major club in Europe would be fighting to sign him this summer! Surely. Right? Ehm…. Right? Oh… OK then… Perhaps 1-2 Saudi clubs? Just one? Eh… OK… Don’t mind me then.

It looks like Milan is having the last laugh on this Theo’s situation, there are no clubs rushing the ekpa, after playing poorly
I think there will be offers but they will be late in the window.
Clubs are going to use the broken relationship and the expiring contract to get a discount.
The longer he goes without a transfer in the summer the lower the price goes. Take 20 mil and run if you can. But he ultimately might got for 10-15 mil.
Surely whether we accept that should be based on whether we have a replacement ready? If we don’t and we need a year, then there’s no point selling three games into the season IMO.

No doubt about that. Theo can either find a club he likes and get out, or sit on the bench (in the stands) and miss out on the World Cup due to not being fit enough to play.
His choice really.
If he stays, we have to play him. He’ll be motivated as heck to prove himself, it would be self defeating to have him and not squeeze him for everything he’s got left. He can leave a hero if he helps us do well next season.
I’d rather play him for the year where he will have the highest motivation – contract AND World Cup year – than sell him for 15-20M or less, which we will likely not spend wisely anyway.
