Tuttosport: Fonseca choice and Milanello absence – Ibrahimovic ends up in the dock

The storm that has hit AC Milan after a difficult start to the new season has not spared anyone, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic even ending up in the dock.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes this morning that holding Ibrahimovic to account is not a lèse-majesté, because even an icon like Paolo Maldini was not spared from criticism and it is the price to pay when you go from being a leader of the dressing room to becoming the guarantor of the project.

Zlatan is the object of scrutiny because he is seen as the embodiment of the club’s summer choices, especially on the issue related to the coach, where everyone would have expected a different choice than Paulo Fonseca given the possibility of hiring other names.

Some fans wants Antonio Conte who later ended up with Napoli, others wanted Roberto De Zerbi to return ‘home’ but he is now at Marseille, then there were strong links with Sergio Conceiçao who is still a free agent.

Ibrahimovic – with his cryptic social media posts, light-hearted interviews and mountain excursions – is a more or less constant absence from Milanello where Maldini often followed the work of the team. Thus, he is perhaps a bit more detached than many thought he would be.

In short, considering the situation in which Milan currently finds itself after the first few days of the season, there is a need for a turning point, which only a personality like Ibra’s can provide. His presence will be fundamental, yet the players and coach must take some responsibility.
