Tuttosport: A desire to reunite – Ibrahimovic pushing for Van Bommel as next Milan boss

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s process to try and identify the next head coach continues, and each major source seems to have a different idea of who is leading the race.

According to this morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the final choice is approaching for Milan and they seem to have two names to choose from: Mark van Bommel of Antwerp and Paulo Fonseca of Lille.

A wanted man

Fonseca has been on Milan’s list of candidates for some time and he has two other offers in his hand, meaning that the Portuguese coach must make his own decision.

One of the offers is from Lille to extend his contract, which expires at the end of next month, and the other is from Marseille who wish to entrust him with a new era.

Tomorrow evening Fonseca will play against Nice with the objective of qualifying for the next Champions League and it is likely that after the match he will say something more about his future.

A special bond

The Van Bommel option is one to watch, and the chances of him taking a seat on the Milan bench have risen sharply in the last few hours.

The Dutchman, who as a players wore the Rossoneri shirt for a season and a half (he was one of the protagonists of the 2010-11 scudetto with Allegri on the bench) is very close to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, his former team-mate.

The Swede is a great endorser of MVB and this could be decisive, while on his CV there is a league and cup double with Antwerp last season, ending a title drought.

  1. Although I’m used to it, but I’m fed up with all these articles that write whatever and are not held accountable once their “headlines” are exposed as fake news with no basis.
