CorSport: Injuries, rotations and a win needed – Milan arrive in La Spezia with hands tied

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan start four season defining days with a game against Spezia at the Stadio Alberto Picco this evening, with three points a necessity.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, Milan arrive in Liguria almost with their hands tied because while Stefano Pioli wants to rotate in view of Tuesday, Rafael Leao and Ismael are injured while Rade Krunic and Junior Messias too are out too and Malick Thiaw is suspended.

In the middle of the field solutions are scarce and Tommaso Pobega is warming up his engines to prepare for a season finale in which he will probably be used several times.

Pioli spoke during an interview with Milan TV on the eve of the game and stated: “I want lucidity and determination. We are not satisfied with the result and performance in the derby but I have always said that the accounts are settled in the end.”

We are getting close to the end, and Milan can no longer make mistakes in the league. The Rossoneri could be put under pressure by Atalanta if the Bergamo side were to win in the 15:00 CEST game in Salerno too.

With four games to go, the Rossoneri must register 12 points. However, Milan have won just once away from home in 2023 which does not bode well, though that was the 4-0 against Napoli.

The best version of Milan will be needed for a final sprint that still sees the top four battle open, and a win today could give some belief that a comeback is possible on Tuesday.
