Tuttosport: How Jovic’s golden moment could change Milan’s transfer plans

By Oliver Fisher -

Two months ago, the idea of not signing a striker in the January transfer window because of a purple patch for Luka Jovic seemed like an unlikely scenario.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report, that through ball for Theo Hernandez to win the penalty against Fiorentina, his former team, was perhaps the spark that finally made Jovic explode after a difficult first few months.

Just look at his numbers: five goals scored in the last six games in which he played, meaning Stefano Pioli now has a valid alternative to Olivier Giroud and who knows, as time goes by, the Serbian may overtake him in the pecking order.

The rebirth of Jovic, as the paper writes, could also change Milan’s transfer plans in January. It is no mystery that the Rossoneri were looking for a new centre-forward with the likes of Akor Adams of Montpellier, Jhon Duran of Aston Villa and Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart linked.

However, the directors could decide to postpone the investment in a new striker until the summer window, given that it is hard to find the right opportunities in the mid-season mercato anyway.

Giroud at the moment still remains Pioli’s starter up front, but if Jovic continues like this it will be really hard for the coach to leave him on the bench. However, what matters is that there are two valid options, especially if the latter gets back to his Eintracht Frankfurt form.

  1. We still should buy a new striker. my gosh. Everytime anyone is performing one game Milan want to save money. Also Jimenez performed well and now they dont want to buy a deputy for Hernandez. I hope its just a fake news.
Because if Giroud gets injured we just have Jovic what if he then also get injured we are lost.. a competition between the strikers is healthy and good

  2. Guess Pioli is managing Jovic the right way after all? Slow start, from a complicated past, and the goals keep coming with not much pressure on him…

How do we process that? LOL!!! Maybe, just maybe, we can see him start a Serie A fixture again soon.
