AC Milan are looking to take their project to the next level in the 2026-27 season, and according to a report, some major summer moves have already been identified by the Rossoneri.
It has been a good season for Milan so far, despite sitting ten points behind Inter, as they have done a complete 180-degree turn compared to the 2024-25 campaign. Now, it feels like there is a foundation to build on and with Massimiliano Allegri focused on staying, there can rightfully be some optimism.

Yesterday, Gazzetta dello Sport also added that Milan are looking to move their project into ‘phase two’, which includes a pay rise for the gaffer and an increased say on mercato movement. So, what could the latter look like?
Four key targets, three signings
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan have quite a few positions that they would like to strenghten but there are two that stand out: centre-back and centre-forward. In other words, these are expected to be the major expenses in the summer.
The two top names for the No.9 role are Moise Kean (Fiorentina) and Mateo Retegui (Al-Qadisiyah), with Allegri seemingly preferring the former after working with him at Juventus. However, the most important requirement is that the player has Serie A experience, which Retegui has.
For the centre-back, meanwhile, the plan isn’t just to bring in one player but ideally two. Igli Tare has been following Mario Gila (Lazio) for a long time and Allegri would like to reunite with Federico Gatti (Juventus). Getting those two would certainly boost the defence.
Manchester City’s Nathan Ake is also on the list of potential signings, but it’s clear that the names mentioned above are the favourites.
Milan should have bought Guirassy in summer 2024.
Retegui would be a big boost, at least in Serie A, but economics do not favour his transfer.
I doubt Milan will be able to buy a quality, proven CF of the kind it needs to spearhead the attack this summer, unless some unforseen opportunity arises.
Kean is a possible option, but I am not sure he is the kind of striker Milan need; he looks to me as a second striker.
