Tuttosport: Key day in Mandzukic talks – the striker is willing to accept a six-month deal

It seems as though AC Milan are giving serious thought to the possibility of signing Mario Mandzukic on a free transfer, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) notes how Milan are enticed by the idea of signing the seasoned and successful striker, who is currently without a club after his brief adventure in Qatar with Al-Duhail.

There has apparently been a series of meetings – starting in December and continuing over the last few weeks – between the Rossoneri management and Mandzukic, who is training every day and is at a good level of fitness. The former Juve striker is ready to challenge himself in an important team and is thrilled to return to play.

The newspaper adds that there have been direct contacts between the player and Maldini, from which a mutual satisfaction would have emerged and the 34-year-old would accept a six-month contract.

The situation is evolving and could be resolved, in one way or another, in the short term. Today, therefore, could be a key day.
