Tuttosport: Kjaer aiming to seize chance as Kalulu will miss Inter clash

By Oliver Fisher -

Just as a golden chance had presented itself for Pierre Kalulu to show what he can do in the biggest game of all, a muscle problem has snatched it away.

Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) reports that Kalulu suffered a muscle problem during one of the last training sessions of last week, before the squad had some time off while the Italian national team used Milanello.

He will carry out new tests on the muscular issue either tomorrow or Friday, but what this suggests is that it is practically impossible for him to be called up for the derby against Inter on Saturday evening.

Stefano Pioli will now have to make a virtue of necessity. He already had to do without the suspended Fikayo Tomori due to the red card received by the English defender in the win against Roma and Kalulu would have taken his spot, but now he can’t play either.

The paper goes on to add that Simon Kjær will play alongside Malick Thiaw as the centre-back pairing, with Davide Calabria on the right and Theo Hernández on the left.

The back four face a tough task keeping Inter’s attack quiet, given they have scored eight goals in the first three games, with Lautaro on five for the season already.

  1. He’s far to slow. Last year they played with Dzeko against us, now with Thuram. Big difference. I don’t see this ending well, him in a sprint with Thuram
