Tuttosport: Kjaer warming up ahead of the derby after Kalulu’s injury

By Oliver Fisher -

There is yet another headache for Stefano Pioli to try and solve as Pierre Kalulu might also miss the derby against Inter, in addition to Fikayo Tomori.

Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) report that Kalulu was expected to partner Malick Thiaw and take the spot of the suspended Tomori on Saturday night but the Frenchman suffered a muscle problem during training at Milanello.

Kalulu’s condition monitored by Milan until the immediate eve of the derby and Pioli is waiting for news on how his recovery is progressing, while in the meantime preparing to potentially us Thiaw with Simon Kjær.

The Dane played the last 15 minutes – injury time included – of Denmark’s 1-0 win over Finland yesterday. He has played more minutes for his national team over the break than Pioli fielded him for in the first three games of the new season.

Furthermore, what worries Milan fans is above all a preseason where Kjær showed some worrying signs. With Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram – who are not exactly easy opponents – it would be a very complicated first start of the season.
