Tuttosport: Krunic’s injury may open the door for Adli’s first minutes of the season

By Euan Burns -

There is a chance that Yacine Adli could get a run of games for AC Milan with Rade Krunic suffering an injury against Verona, a report claims.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Bosnian midfielder is expected to be absent for at least a couple of matches after he suffered a thigh injury.

With Stefano Pioli expected to revert back to a 4-3-3 soon, he could ask Adli to play in the centre of the midfield three as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders are much better suited to the flanks of the three.

Adli has not played for Milan at all this season but there was a belief in pre-season that he is being trained to be the backup to Krunic.

This is not the sort of role he played at Bordeaux when Milan opted to sign him, but it is one he could adapt to very well.

  1. Captioning that picture….

Pioli: “Hey you, no fans on the training pitch! How did you get in here?!?!?”

Adli: “Boss, it’s me, Yacine! I’ve been here over a year!”

Pioli: “Who? Get off my training pitch! Security!!!!!”

  2. While i think Adli can do it and should get some minutes to prove himself; I think Musah is more suited and ready for it. I mean he did it for the USA a few times.
For good or bad, let’s see what Adli can do. Right now he’s like schrodinger’s cat.

  3. I think pioli is all talk about Adli. He would rather play Reijnders there than Adli. I don’t know what it is that just makes him not want to take a chance on this kid? It’s very odd.

  4. History wise. Adli and Cheek are well suited for the wide MF. By preference and by their admission’ Cheek and Rejnders are comfy as wide MF. Only Musah expressed enthusiasm for any MF even WB position.
