Tuttosport: Leao becomes a ‘driving force’ and ‘leader’ again for Milan

By Euan Burns -

Rafael Leao is looking like the leader that he has been before in this AC Milan team after a positive run of performances towards the end of the season.

As highlighted by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Portuguese forward is getting back to his best just when Milan really need him and that was shown with the performance and goal away at Fiorentina on Matchday 30.

Leao has endured a poor season by his own high standards in 2023/24 but with a recent upturn in form, he now has 11 goals and 11 assists with eight Serie A games still to play, as well as the Europa League quarter-final tie against AS Roma.

Having received a new contract last season, fans have been understandably disappointed with the lack of impact from Leao and Christian Pulisic’s form is what has given Leao some space to figure out what is going wrong.

Leao’s comments after games show that he is a leader in the dressing room and with some crucial games coming to secure second in Serie A, Pioli will be relying on Leao for both his goal contributions and his attitude around the rest of the squad.

Ending the season in good goalscoring form will allow Leao to go into Euro 2024 feeling a lot more confident than he was two months ago.
