Tuttosport: Loftus-Cheek recovers for Fiorentina clash but will not start

By Oliver Fisher -

The good news regarding Ruben Loftus-Cheek is that he is back in group training and is therefore available to play again, but he is not expected to start tomorrow.

Ahead of Saturday night’s match at San Siro against Fiorentina, Stefano Pioli has Loftus-Cheek back in the fold who returned to regular group training yesterday after recovering from muscle fatigue and a gastrointestinal virus.

However, as Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, the English midfielder is not expected to start tomorrow’s game against La Viola and instead will begin the match from the bench.

Pioli’s decision is to go with a trio of Yunus Musah (who will miss the next game against Borussia Dortmund due to suspension), Rade Krunic and Tijjani Reijnders, with RLC able to come off the bench when duty calls.

Of course the decision is largely influenced by the fact the former Chelsea man has not done consecutive group training sessions yet and thus is probably a bit behind in match fitness.

  1. In fact, Pioli does not know how to play the 433 game plan. The only plan he is good at is 4231. Also, when he loses by a goal, the match ends for him and he cannot return to the matches, and the worst thing we have seen lately is that he cannot maintain the score while he is ahead of it.

  2. It is really important for Milan’s future success to give other players a chance to grow and learn with consequential playing time. Jovic will have the opportunity to showcase. Chuck on the right, Puli on the left, and Adli … well he could play further up the field. This will have growing pains short term. But it is essential to success to have them capable and hungry.
