Mike Maignan’s performances this season have largely been of the highest level, and AC Milan are closing in on agreement which will see him extend his deal.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning, the Milan management will use the break and the lead-up to the January transfer window to hold talks with Theo Hernandez, Matteo Gabbia, Davide Calabria and Maignan to try to find an agreement.

Of all the players, the one who seems to be closest to renewing with the Rossoneri is the French goalkeeper, because Maignan is ‘close to an agreement worth 5 million per season for another 4 years’, which is therefore a €20m net commitment.

It is news that can only make Milan fans and Paulo Fonseca happy, given that the former Lille star seems to have returned to the level everyone knows he is capable of, which places him among the elite goalkeepers in world football and thus makes the recognition via a pay rise apt.

Not only that, with the experience accumulated over the years, the 28-year-old has become even more of a leader in the dressing room. He keeps the levels high in training and knows when and how to speak to players in order to hold them to a high standard and get a reaction from them.

      1. Puli, no. In Milan he’s a Mr nice guy. At the moment Mike is the only strongest candidate. Gabbia will become captain one day since he’s our academy player, just like Cala got the armband

      2. I like pulisic maybe the most of all our players but for captain you need tougher guy ,the same stays for gabbia , but in our team everything is posible such as having calabria for captain

  1. So year by year Milan increased salary for best players.

That means players like Origi are no welcomed in future.

To give Abraham 4m net next season, he must score 15 goals this year.

    1. I would say pass up on the Abraham deal, cos add that to the transfer fee to bring him to Milan that money would have been reinvested with just some additional cash into more proven strikers. Did someone say “Gimenez, Gyokeres, Retegui, Osimhen, etc. Heck get your hands on that free J. David deal more potent n better strikers objectively
