Tuttosport: Maldini probes the market for strikers – Chelsea forward among three considered

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini does not want to be caught off guard should Zlatan Ibrahimovic not renew and therefore is probing the market for alternatives.

That is according to Sunday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive), which reports how Milan have begun to look at potential ‘Plan B’ options should the renewal for the Swede fall through.

It appears a new target man would be the preferred option, as the paper highlights veteran duo Mario Mandzukic and Olivier Giroud as two options.

The Croatia international is out of contract after leaving Qatari side Al-Duhail while the Frenchman, on the other hand, can leave Chelsea for a very small amount.

However, the idea of signing Roma striker Patrik Schick has also not gone away. The Czech forward was heavily linked when it seemed like Ralf Rangnick would be arriving, but the idea could come back into fashion after a season on loan at Leipzig in which he scored 10 Bundesliga goals.
