Tuttosport: Milan will battle Juventus for highly rated French defender – the details

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan have several defensive targets for the upcoming summer mercato. However, they will face competition from an Italian rival for one of their favoured choices – a report has claimed.

2024 has always seemed like a year where Milan would invest in a central defender, given the lead-up to January was filled with reports about who the Rossoneri may bring add to their ranks. However, the only addition was Matteo Gabbia, as the club postponed a permanent signing.

Therefore, investment in the summer now seems inevitable. The names linked to the club have remained consistent from January to now, and a player they have remained interested in is Maxence Lacroix.

Today, Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) have reported that the Diavolo see him as an ideal replacement for Simon Kjaer, all things considered. At 23 years old, he is already a well-established Bundesliga defender and is capable of playing on both sides of defence, which the club appreciates.

The main point of interest, though, is that his contract expires next season, which means that Milan could sign a highly-rated defender at a discounted price who will continue to grow in years to come. Furthermore, they have sent Antonio D’Ottavio to scout him as a sign of their intent.

However, this has not just interested the Rossoneri, as Juventus are heavily interested and are confident about their chances of signing him.
