Tuttosport: Milan aim to protect Camarda on two fronts as Arsenal and Newcastle lurk

By Oliver Fisher -

After Saturday night’s record-breaking debut against Fiorentina, Francesco Camarda and AC Milan have no doubts and want to move forward together despite the interest of other top clubs.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) report this morning that between now and 10 March 2024 – which is when Camarda turns 16 and will be able to sign his first professional contract – an agreement will need to be found over what will be at least a three-year contract.

Milan must protect him on two fronts: firstly from the spotlight of the media, but also from the clutches of European clubs, ready to offer up big contracts to his family and entourage. Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund are just some of the clubs that have shown interest in the teenager in the last year.

The contacts with Giuseppe Riso, his agent, began some time ago, even when Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara were still working at Milan. The two former directors began negotiations last spring and now the ball is in the hands of Giorgio Furlani, Geoffrey Moncada and Antoni D’Ottavio.

Milan doesn’t want to lose him at 16, but Camarda isn’t looking to move away from his boyhood club either.

  1. This is feels like a dejavu about a talented young player who loves Milan from his childhood and then suddenly the new management sold him for big money.

I don’t expect much from Furlani and co. Pretty much Camarda will end up like Tonali sooner or later.

    1. Hopefully later. Just get him to score at least +50 goals for us before that happens and make sure we’ll get money to buy 3 key-players with his sale. I’d prefer him becoming a club legend with over 300 goals scored for the shirt but we all know that’s not going to happen.

    2. The ONLY thing we can do to stop talent going to England is try to close the financial gap. In the short term that means selling wisely and actually caring about the accounts.

The alternative is we squint and pretend it’s the 90’s and we’re still bigger than Man City. It won’t keep players at the club though.

Camarda will sign in March 2024 because I believe he will want to continue his development here. And then, who knows – maybe by the time the big offers come a couple of years later, maybe he will be the first occasion where we are in a position to fend off English money.
