Tuttosport: Milan ‘very close’ to agreement with Spurs – €3m difference with Salzburg

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are closing in on two new signings, following the arrival of Alvaro Morata, as the distance between offers and demands have been reduced significantly. Indeed, according to a report, the idea is to close both deals within ten days.

Strahinja Pavlovic has been heavily linked with Milan for weeks now and after an initial distance between the clubs, it has now been more or less bridged. According to Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, the Rossoneri have come up to €22m while Salzburg are asking for €25m.

As for Emerson Royal, negotiations with Tottenham have been going really well and there is almost no distance anymore. The idea is to secure both of these signings in the next ten days and that should give them enough time with Paulo Fonseca ahead of the season opener.

Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted earlier today that the sale of Malick Thiaw could be behind Milan’s decision to re-open talks over Emerson Royal. This is because Pierre Kalulu, in the event of the German’s departure, would be more of a centre-back option for Fonseca than a right-back.

In any case, Milan are currently in the United States and will face Manchester City tonight, with three certainties in the starting XI.

  1. Look if we sell Thiaw, how about replacing him directly instead of moving Kalulu back to CD and replacing him with Emerson. Just sign Hummels and that’s it. Tomori, Pavlovic, Gabbia, Hummels. Good CB options and we won’t have to pay 10-12 mln for RB who’s not better than Calabria

    1. Yeah agreed. Somehow we are signing the player we have no competition for ie Emerson, while all the other non-release clause players we can’t seem to close.

I am pretty sure now that if Morata didn’t have a release clause we’d have signed no one this mercato so far. Still a month while the window is open but everyone knows it becomes a bit desperate late on, and also you want players to have a proper preseason with their new team/coach.

    2. And FFS, Hummels is close to agreeing to 3M€ salary with Bologna!!! If that’s not a steal I don’t know what it. Milan should just snatch him while they can.

  2. When I think this management cannot disappoint me any further, they always find a new low. Instead of closing the deal with one, just one, of the two or three actually decent players we have been linked with, they are all in for a guy who somehow manages to be worse than Calabria.

  3. I can’t understand it, I think the biggest weakness of Calabria is the speed, then I thought oh, they prefer another mediocre player because of his speed.
Then I realized he actually slower than Calabria so what the h**? .

  4. I don’t follow the English Premiership closely, so I’m not very familiar with each individual player, but I see that most of those who write comments here know very well that this Emerson is a complete disaster! I wonder what everyone bases such conclusions on when I see that he is an occasional member of the Brazilian national team and has solid experience from several big teams !? Does everyone here know the Tottenham team so well or are they just copying other people’s conclusions ? 🤔

    1. For me, it was a mix of copying other people’s comments, watching a 3.5 min “highlights” video where most of the footage is of him warming up, looking at the camera, yelling, and celebrating in slow mo. The reaming 90 seconds consists of about eight different takes of the same goal, with the rest being the most pedestrian plays I have witnessed since Krunic used to honor our beloved shirt.

Last but not least, I have zero trust in our incompetent management signing someone worthy of wearing the Milan shirt.

    2. I’ve seen Emerson play for Tottenham. I was really surprised to hear about Milan’s interest in him. He’s not that good, and, still, Milan management are stressing themselves so much to bring him in. They did the same with Origi and Ballo-Toure, and, now, they are having difficulty pushing them out.

    1. I sometimes watch Tottenham-games because one of my friends are a fan of the club. The games I saw last season he was on the bench, and playing at his spot on the starting eleven is Porro. The few times Emerson came in from the bench, tells me he is not superior to Calabria or Florenzi. So spending money on him is complete nonsense, especially when we even have Terraciano as well and struggling to get the deal done with Fofana

  6. So let’s waste money on a position (RB) we don’t really need with a tight tight budget. Brilliant !
I sometimes struggle to see what the clear plan is for the playing squad especially going into the future

  7. It doesn’t matter who will be signed. As long as we get scudetto next season or Fonz*tca will be the next PioLOL. Coach must use his special abilities (like Justice League, or The Avengers) to win cups.

  8. We are missing a genuinely classy CDM. Look at Rodri for Manc and Spain. He makes the sides balanced by adding stability. The same way we have Theo, Maignen and Leao we need a classy CDM. We let both Kessie & Calhanglou go for free but never replaced them.

  9. It’s always the same news “milan close to signing this and this player but they’re is a gap in asking price” worst management in the world
