Tuttosport: Milan continue to monitor Fiorentina and Schalke stars ahead of winter window

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could make a new attempt in January to three defenders they were linked with during the summer, according to a report.

Ultimately, not a single one of the over 10 centre-backs linked with Milan ended up arriving, and it has left many fans feeling understandably underwhelmed given there were strong links with the likes of Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, Schalke’s Ozan Kabak and Strasbourg’s Mohamed Simakan.

According to Wednesday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive), the Rossoneri management decided to delay their pursuit of a new defender until January, which could be a lot more economically advantageous.

It is entirely possible that Milan try again for Simakan having fallen a few million short, but also the situation regarding Kabak will be monitored given an intermediary opened the door for a possible future move earlier today.

Meanwhile, Milan’s interest in Milenkovic has not faded and the Serbia international has not yet renewed with Fiorentina – with whom his agreement expires in June 2022 – which means he could be available for cheaper.
