Tuttosport: Milan continue with youth project – Man Utd linked target discarded; €60m striker eyed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s owners wish to continue with the youth project they started in the summer transfer window, a report claims, with one possible exception.

Elliott Management have preferred a recruitment strategy which involves signing young players with high potential and recording capital gains on the balance sheet.

The Rossoneri spent a substantial sum in the summer mercato on Theo Hernandez, Rade Krunic, Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao, Leo Duarte and Ante Rebic – the oldest of whom is 25.

According to Tuttosport on Wednesday morning (via MilanNews.it), Milan are still awaiting the response of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has not yet made a decision about his future.

The Diavolo have offered six-month contract and renewal option for another season in the case of a top four finish, an offer which Elliott have approved.

However, the Swede would be an exception, and if he says no then the Rossoneri will still look for another attacker on the market, but not one over 30.

As a result, Mario Mandzukic and Olivier Giroud are both ruled out as they are both over 30, and among the alternative named being considering are Real Madrid duo Luka Jovic – who cost €60m in the summer – and Mariano Diaz.

The relations between Milan and the LaLiga giants is fantastic after the Theo Hernandez deal in the summer, but everything is on standby waiting for Ibra’s reply.
