Tuttosport: Milan could lower their contract offer as Calhanoglu has his back to the wall

Hakan Calhanoglu’s tactic of stalling and his disappointing performances at the European Championships could see Milan reduce their offer, a report claims.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how the European Championships were supposed to be the perfect showcase for Calhanoglu to demonstrate his abilities and for some top clubs to present an offer, but Turkey have lost two matches out of two and the No.10’s performances were far from good.

Now, his contract with Milan will expire in a few days and he finds himself with his back to the wall, because he has no other offers. Neither the player nor his entourage thought they could find themselves in this situation and while Milan are waiting for Hakan, it cannot be entirely excluded that they revise the fixed part of their offer downwards with more bonuses.

The strategy therefore risks costing Calhanoglu very dearly, who wasted a great chance at the European Championship to attract the attention of other clubs, and in the last two outings he has shown he is not worth the €5m net per year requested.
