Tuttosport: Milan duo to battle it out for starting spot against Salernitana

By Isak Möller -

Junior Messias has sustained an injury and will be out for around a month, meaning Stefano Pioli will have to choose a new starter for the right flank. As things stand, two players are in the running.

Milan will take on Salernitana on Monday evening and there will be some changes to the starting XI, following the mid-week clash against Spurs. The change on the right is inevitable, though, amid the injury of Messias.

According to Tuttosport, as cited by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli will have to decide between Davide Calabria and Alexis Saelemaekers for the starting spot on the right. Given the formation, the latter appears to be ahead for now.

Calabria is the captain of the team but the right wing-back role perhaps isn’t the best for him. Milan need to make sure whoever plays there offers a lot going forward as well, and that’s why Saelemaekers is the favourite to take over from Messias.
