Tuttosport: Milan duo was underwhelming in friendly vs. Nice – what must change

By Isak Möller -

Milan faced Nice in their third friendly encounter of the pre-season last night and although the performance wasn’t great, they got a draw out of it. Some players stood out and did well, others not so much.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive), two players in particular were underwhelming, namely Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao. Milan have high hopes for the duo and they must improve before the season starts.

Diaz lacked the physicality to beat the Nice midfielders that were constantly pressing him, resulting in several lost balls. It also meant that his touches made little difference for the Rossoneri, which is the opposite of what they need from their No.10.

As for Leao, he often drifted wide in an attempt to create something, but almost always failed. He perhaps could have got a penalty for a good move, but other than that he was very disappointing indeed. In short, he must improve.

  1. Arber Cami says:

It’s not new that Diaz is a good dribbler but physically not apt, he’s a profile for Spain but not for Italy. Leao is a lazy player, he should be sold asap.

  2. I am Forzza says:

Milan seemed lost and confused against Nice, the midfield was empty proof that Tonali and Pobega were still young and inexperienced, Calabria and Teo Hernandez seemed to be playing football for the first time, Diaz Krunic and Salamankers did not know what to do with the ball, the only thing is Leao was concrete. Maignan was sluggish and slow on goal, and in the continuation of the season Milan will feel how much Donnarumma is missing

    1. Ivy says:

I agree for your opinion but not in Maignan, he was have 2 important save last night… Midfield the worst because Pobega still need to adapt how to play double pivot in MF..

      1. Abuumaira says:

I can agree with you on the other players but on Mike, he is decent and very soon Milan will forget Dollarumma.

  3. Kokis says:

I always say that diaz must change sport and leao is a 20 year old tired veteran. Unfortunately I am 100% correct every game and if we dont sign other players then milan will be 100% predictable. Poor Milan
