Tuttosport: Milan eye Arsenal man; ‘new Luka Modric’ as regista options

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have three names on their shortlist to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window, according to a report.

It was reported by Sky Italia earlier in the month that the Rossoneri are thinking about the idea of signing a new midfielder to play in front of the defence, with Ismael Bennacer to be deployed as a mezzala.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it) claimed that Arsenal trio Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Mohamed Elneny are potential options to fill the hole, while other outlets have linked Nemanja Matic.

According to the same outlet – as cited by Calciomercato.com – claims that Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban, along with sporting director Ricky Massara, have a three-name wish list.

Elneny is one of the trio, while Genk starlet Sander Berge and Celta Vigo star Stanislav Lobotka are also both considered options.

The 21-year-old Berge has amassed 26 appearances and scored four goals in all competitions, while Lobotka – branded the ‘new Luka Modric’ – has been linked with Milan before; his agent even confirming interest from the Diavolo over the summer.
