AC Milan’s January business might not be done as the management are seeking a deputy to Theo Hernandez, a report claims.
Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) confirms that Milan want to sign a full-back with two names left after a potential deal for Barcelona’s Junior Firpo collapsed.
The names in question are Matias Viña of Palmeiras and Nuno Mendes of Sporting CP, but both are not simple operations. The former – a 23-year-old Uruguay international – was a target in the January window last year. Milan had an agreement with the player but not with his then-club Nacional of Montevideo, so he moved to Palmeiras who now do not want to sell him.
Meanwhile, Nuno Mendes is only 18 years old but is already a starter with Rafael Leao’s former club Sporting, so signing him is complicated. In the Portuguese full-back’s contract there is a release clause worth €70million. Obviously that is not the real price of the player, but his value is still high and it is unlikely his
The paper also mentioned Jordan Amavi of Marseille and Iago of Augsburg as alternative targets, while other names may emerge as Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini do not lack imagination.
