Tuttosport: Milan face dilemma with five keepers fighting for three spots – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face somewhat of a goalkeeping logjam this summer, a report highlights, with five players in the running for three spots at present.

As Monday’s edition of Tuttosport points out (via MilanLive), in addition to defining the future of Gianluigi Donnarumma, the Rossoneri will also have to figure out what to do with the other four keepers.

We are of course talking about Pepe Reina (on loan at Aston Villa), Asmir Begovic (on loan from Bournemouth), Antonio Donnarumma and Alessandro Plizzari. Tuttosport claims that one thing is certain: none of them will be promoted to starter if Donnarumma leaves.

Reina moved to the Premier on a dry loan so at the end of the season he will return to Milan, however it is expected that he will leave regardless due to his high salary and the fact he is 38.

Begovic arrived from Bournemouth in his place, and a stay at the end of the season cannot be excluded. Five years younger than Reina, he has already convinced after a good debut against Fiorentina.

Then there is Plizzari, who hopes for the starting position in the event of a farewell to Donnarumma having followed a similar path to the 21-year-old. Finally there is Donnarumma senior, for whom in all likelihood his fate will again be intertwined with that of Gigio. If the latter were to say goodbye, Antonio would almost certainly leave too.
