Tuttosport: Milan shift focus to midfield after Thiaw signing – the names

By Isak Möller -

After securing the arrival of Malick Thiaw for the defence, AC Milan will now be able to focus solely on the midfield. Several names have been linked with them but it seems the wish list has been narrowed down to two.

The Rossoneri are in need of a midfielder to make up for the departure of Franck Kessie, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer. Tommaso Pobega did well when he came on last night but he has slightly different characteristics.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews), there are two names in particular on Milan’s wish list: Joao Gomes (Flamengo) and Aster Vranckx (Wolfsburg). The Rossoneri like the former the most but the price tag is slightly higher than what they thought.

As for Vranckx, a move seems possible but Atalanta are also keeping tabs on the situation. One thing is for sure: Milan will be able to focus solely on the midfield in what remains of the transfer window.

  1. As I have said over and over before, Milan really focus on U21 players for CB/DM.

Unless the player is homegrown, non-U21 will only add registration issue for Serie A squad due to homegrown rule. U21 players are exempt from this Serie A squad rule.

    1. Did u not read the other article Mr. Registration expert? Based on that article, this transfer will not affect the registration rules for Serie A. Matter of fact Milan can basically buy who they want for Serie A. Apparently it’s game by game. Milan may have an issue with UEFA UCL registration not Serie A. They can just leave home who is injured or not playing on a game by game basis.

      1. Which article you were talking about?

As for changing the registration game by game, that can only be done before transfer window close.

        1. Come out you @Isak Moller!

You wrote misleading article claiming the squad registration can be changed game by game! It was your own writting, not translation from media source.

Squad registration can only be changed during transfer windows. That game by game only apply while it still open.

          1. @Yelnats yes that’s the article I was referring to🙂. I really want to see how this goes once the transfer window closes. I guess it would mean Serie A adopted the UEFA requirement fully. I also thought it was on a full time basis, not game by game….

            *Grabs popcorn* 🍿 😁

          2. There are only 2 things not adopted:

            1. Serie A still allow U21 players even though they had not been in the club for at least 2 years while Uefa require minimum 2 years.

            2. As Uefa competition schedule is outside of transfer window, the registration only happen 2 times, after each summer and winter transfer windows. Meanwhile, Serie A schedule overlap with both transfer windows, there is no limit in registration changes during transfer windows.

  2. How do we have the money for Gomes? Or Aster for that matter? We couldn’t even sign Onana for 5-6M (which is a steal) and now we will spend more for one of these 2 players?
