Tuttosport: ‘Milan Futuro to the rescue’ – injuries force young trio to be called up

AC Milan head coach Paulo Fonseca will once again have to call upon some Milan Futuro players to flesh out the squad tonight against Fiorentina because of the number of absences.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, Milan will be without Alessandro Florenzi, Ismael Bennacer and Marco Sportiello who are long-term absentees. However, Davide Calabria – who risks a month-long absence – Luka Jovic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also now in the treatment room.

For this reason the paper has a section headlined: ‘Many injuries. Milan Futuro to the rescue’. Given the lack of depth, Fonseca is forced to draw from the U23s and has called up full-back Alex Jimenez, midfielder Kevin Zeroli and striker Francesco Camarda.

What that means is that Daniele Bonera’s side were left a bit thin after some of their key men were unable to feature, and they lost 1-0 after playing with 10 men from the fifth minute and after getting another red card later on.

Whether Jimenez, Zeroli and Camarda get any minutes tonight remains to be seen, but the seven absentees (Davide Bartesaghi is also one of them after his red card against Lecce) certainly boosts their chances of at least making an appearance off the bench.

  1. This futuro coach, Bonera, it seems he doesn’t know his way yet on player management. He was the one that coached the senior team against Roma in a friendly fixture against Roma in Australia and his instinct are really not impressive to me.

I’m think the same pressure meted on Fonseca has ever been used on him. He is making our prospects look like they are overrated
