Tuttosport: Milan identify 24-year-old Serie A midfielder as possible Meite replacement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a Bologna midfielder in their sights as they are looking at a potential replacement for Soualiho Meite, a report claims.

Meite arrived at Milan in the January transfer window from Torino on a loan with option to buy deal, with the Rossoneri having the option to make his move permanent for anywhere between the €7-9m mark depending on which source you believe. The Frenchman made 20 appearances for Milan across the league and Europa League after arriving, but never really hit consistent form.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan seem unlikely to sign Meite on a permanent basis from Torino and that is why they are looking for a new profile to complete the midfield department. The headline reads as follows: “Check Schouten for the midfield”.

The Bologna player is one of the targets to strengthen the midfield, as the 24-year-old Dutchman made 34 appearances in Serie A becoming a mainstay in Mihajlovic’s double pivot.

    1. To look at it in a way that Milan has to pay 15 Mil more for TOnali. Schouten also will be in the same range between 10-15 Mil. While Schouten is an amazing player & more ready almost level with Kessie in terms of stats like Interceptions, Successful tackles, Pass completion ratio & KMs covered. Although it will be emotional to let Tonali go. Pobega will be retained as it is. Schouten is more of Tonali alternative.
