AC Milan have identified an alternative to Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo, a report claims, as a distance remains between the Rossoneri and the LaLiga side over a deal.
According to Tuttosport – as cited by MilanNews.it – Milan have abandoned their pursuit of Merih Demiral, who for Juventus is considered non-transferable, but they still wish to sign a centre-back.
Milan and Barcelona have been talking about a deal for Todibo for some time, but for the moment there is still a distance between the offer and the request with Manchester United and Everton seemingly lurking among others.
The Catalan giants are asking for €25million, the paper claims, plus the inclusion of a buy-back clause in the deal, while Paolo Maldini is willing to pay €15m plus bonuses with no repurchase option.
The parties are continuing to negotiate and hope to reach an agreement in the coming weeks, however Milan have already identified a potential alternative Wesley Fofana.
The 19-year-old has played 11 games so far this season for Saint-Etienne between Ligue 1, the Europa League and the Coupe de la Ligue.
