Tuttosport: Milan and Inter both still want Taremi but only in the summer

Both AC Milan and Inter are both still keen on signing FC Porto striker Mehdi Taremi but moves are only being planned for the summer transfer window in 2024, a report claims.

As has been reported by Tuttosport (via Pianeta Milan), the Iranian centre forward who so nearly joined Milan this summer is still a serious target for both of the Milan sides.

Whilst he could certainly be of use to both sides if the move was made in January, there are a couple of key reasons as to why that is very unlikely to happen.

Should Porto make it into the round of 16 of the Champions League, they will almost certainly not allow him to leave the club as they will want him for the whole season. They are currently second in their group with a three-point lead over third place.

His contract is up at the end of the season which means he can leave for free, but crucially, he would be able to get a Portuguese passport from July 1 which would then make him an EU citizen, meaning he would not take up a non-EU slot when being registered for either Inter or Milan.
