Tuttosport: Milan looking at €85m Arsenal trio to instigate major tactical change

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in the idea of signing a regista in the January transfer window, a report claims, with three Arsenal players on the list.

It was reported by Sky Italia earlier in the week that the Rossoneri are thinking about the idea of signing a new midfielder to play in front of the defence, with Ismael Bennacer to be deployed as a mezzala.

According to Tuttosport – as cited by MilanNews.it – Milan are considering making a number of key signings in January, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jean-Clair Todibo the main options to strengthen at both ends of the park.

In addition though, Paolo Maldini and co. are thinking about the purchase of a player with characteristics different from those of Bennacer, who would then be used as a regista.

A ‘Bakayoko-like’ player is sought: a midfielder who would bring physicality the team, and Arsenal trio Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Mohamed Elneny are apparently three names being considered.

The latter is currently on loan at Besiktas, and recent reports have also claimed he is one of the names being considered by Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban, and is valued at €15m.

Meanwhile Torriera – who cost Arsenal £26m (€30m – via Wikipedia) – is unlikely to be allowed to leave in January, and actually possesses similar characteristics to Bennacer.

Xhaka is the most likely to leave especially given his turbulent season so far with the Gunners, though he cost €40m when he arrived from Monchengladbach so would likely come with a large price tag.

The report concludes though by stating that talks could re-open in January regarding a move for Elneny, who has seen his playing time increase at Besiktas in recent weeks but is considered unhappy.
