Tuttosport: Milan looking to follow Liverpool’s model under new owners

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan officially changed owners yesterday as RedBird Capital Partners acquired the club from Elliott Management, and there are already plans for how to move the club forward.

According to a report from Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan changed owners yesterday and RedBird have the vision of bringing the Rossoneri back to very high levels among Europe’s elite clubs.

The American fund will focus on a model similar to that of Liverpool, namely to build a club that aims at lasting success by producing high revenues. To do this, a new stadium will be needed in addition to new sponsorships and the sale of specialised TV rights in the USA.

It is perhaps not a surprise to learn that RedBird will take inspiration from the Premier League side given that they bought a stake of just over 10% in Fenway Sports Group (FSG) – Liverpool’s owner for the last decade – for around $750m.
