Tuttosport: Milan looking to make a Kjaer-bis signing for the defence – all the targets

The beginning of the season is approaching and AC Milan continue working on the transfer market to try and provide Stefano Pioli with the best squad possible. After securing the signings of Diaz and (almost) Tonali, as well as the negotiations for Bakayoko, the Rossoneri also want to strengthen their defence.

With the absence of a reliable third central defender besides Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer, Milan will be forced to intervene on the transfer market.

And the idea of the management is clear, as reported by Tuttosport (via milannews.it): A defender who gives guarantees but at the same time costs little. Essentially a signing like Kjaer in January.

Merely looking at the economic aspect, the two Rossoneri dream signing struggle to meet the mentioned criteria: Nikola Milenkovic and Wesley Fofana. They are Pioli’s favourite names, but both Fiorentina and Saint-Etienne want a lot of money for their jewels.

As of now, these are unreachable figures for Milan (40 million for Milenkovic and 30 million for Fofana), but the prices could go down at the end of the market and, in this sense, the club could come back for the players.

In the meantime, between these two options, there is also a relatively cheaper solution: German Pezzella. According to the Turin-based paper, the Argentine is appreciated by Pioli and is viewed as a suitable profile for the defence.

Commisso wants 18 million euros for the player, a figure considered exaggerated by the Rossoneri management. The club could also, in this case, choose to wait until the end of the market so that the price of the player is lowered. Alternatively, Maldini could turn to other names that can reinforce the team without excessive costs.
