Tuttosport: Milan make new contacts with Rangnick but role remains a puzzle

By Isak Möller -

Contacts and negotiations continue between AC Milan and Ralf Rangnick, as the German is expected to become the next manager of the Rossoneri. However, in recent days, there had been doubts.

As reported by today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it), during a face-to-face conference call, the Milan leadership reassured the German manager on the budget he will have available for the transfer market.

The Elliott fund, in other words, are willing to focus on the former Leipzig man, convinced that he’s the right man to turn the club around. However, what role would he get? The original plan seems to suggest that he will be the manager and sporting director.

There could be alternative solutions, though. In Germany, the “Professor” had recently chosen another path, putting his students – Nagelsmann and Hasenhüttl – on the bench to concentrate on the role of sporting director.

As the newspaper continues, a lot will depend on the current season. If it gets called off, then there will be plenty of time for Rangnick to settle in. However, if it ends in the summer, Rangnick could ‘only’ act as the sporting director.
