Tuttosport: Milan plot move for 49-goal Feyenoord star before Copa America – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

It seems that Santiago Gimenez has risen up through all the other candidates to become the most likely striker signing for AC Milan, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) talks about the difficulties in getting Joshua Zirkzee, who has long been at the top of the management’s list of preferences, but the €15m commission demands have made them stop and reflect.

Gimenez is a name that has always been on said list, given that in the last two seasons has scored 49 goals in 86 games for Feyenoord and has established himself as one of the best No.9s across the European scene.

The Mexico international was actually proposed to Milan a year ago and at the end of April, technical director Geoffrey Moncada also had a meeting with the agents of Gimenez, who at that time was only considered an alternative to Zirkzee.

That particular summit served more than anything else to keep contacts with his entourage alive, yet now the scenario has changed and the 23-year-old is now the man who the directors are really thinking of going for.

He would cost €50m which is a sizeable investment, but is still cheaper than Zirkzee (€40m release clause plus €15m commissions) and Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig (€65m clause).

Gimenez will be involved in the Copa America with Mexico at the end of the month and therefore Milan may look to move quickly to avoid the risk of more goals with his country inflating that asking price.

Milan deemed that buying a new striker is surplus as theres already 3 strikers, Colombo, Jovic and Camarda.

Milan are hoping on holding on these 3 players, until Mbappe arrive in 2032. Meanwhile Colombo has shown significant improvement to rival Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic and Piatek in their prime, thus has given the first choice

  2. He’s not worth half that..

They’re better off getting another grandpa for 5M than a will be flop for 50M

      1. Haha, well, if we can get 40 million I would rather see him leave.

He was really bad second half. To his defense, he has played a lot of games, there was a period the wingers didn’t play well and I think he is looking for a new challenge.

But It’s just not convincing enough to play for Milan. There are a lot of players who have made a lot of goals in a short time in the Dutch competition, and a lot of them failed outside The Netherlands.

        1. This guys literally gave Feyenoord a title last year, and all you guys were riding him hard then and the first half of the season. But don’t let him have a good second half of the season because everyone now hates him or can care less if he leaves lol I hope he does leave, Feyenoord is way too small for him now, and once he leaves you guys will have nothing, even if you guys cash him out why would anyone decent or good want to go to Feyenoord! Milan!!! I hope he goes somewhere else, Milan hasn’t won anything in years, I hope they stick to buying cheap and retired players lol if you want to win big things you have to risk on young talent! I see people here care more about their club not wasting money, which is not even your money lol 😂

          1. Thank you. Sometime ago Jimenez was God at feyenoord, now after an injury bad second part he is now vilified, like he brought the plague to them.
I hope he leaves, and I hope Milan can get him.

  3. At that point just get Morata instead can’t believe that Scamaca isn’t even an option. Why risk and spend 50 million on someone playing in the Dutch league

  4. Nothing makes sense anymore. They’re not willing to spend 5 more millions and get a striker who’s already familiar with the league and language and everything but are ready to splash 50 millions on a foreginer and expect him to be a ready player?

    Ok🍿

    1. I’m surprised your big brain can’t figure this out? Nothing makes sense because everything you read here or from the Italian press in general is made up. These people are cancer, lying to make a buck.

          1. Now just how does my comment suggest I believe in any of this nonsense? Where did you two brainiacs come up with this?

        1. I mean, at some point something has to be true, because we need to appoint someone. But I agree with your original sentiment regarding the 5M difference, so maybe it’s a bit more than that when everything is accounted for. We simply have no idea of the truth about the numbers being discussed by the parties.

    1. Gimenez ? No thanks . We are good with Jovic and Origi
