Tuttosport: Milan eye opportunity as Chelsea demote Broja to train with the U21s

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan have been linked with Armando Broja for many years now and this summer, a move could actually materialise. Having been sent to train with Chelsea’s U21s, the striker could be a mercato opportunity for the Rossoneri.

Milan’s interest in Broja dates back to 2022 and he has been on their radar ever since. He appeared to be a concrete name at the start of this summer but the links cooled down, above all because Chelsea were unwilling to accept a loan formula.

Now, as reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), the situation may have changed as Broja was banished from the first-team facilities. Indeed, he’s currently training with the U21 side and a move seems to be on the cards this month.

Regardless of Luka Jovic’s future, Milan are looking to add another striker to the squad and the negotiations with Roma over Tammy Abraham are complicated. Broja could become the perfect man, therefore, also because a loan with an option to buy should now be possible.

It remains to be seen if the Rossoneri will make a concrete move but one can be sure that they are evaluating the situation. Broja has already stated that he wouldn’t be able to turn down Milan if they were to come knocking.

  1. Hes only 22, so lots of room to still develop, and with a big presence in the box being 191 cm. As a second or third striker hes a good pick.

Especially if we can loan him and use the money set aside for a third forward to secure Fofana and Samardzic or Kone instead.

  2. Not a fan of Broja but chelsea spending silly money having a bloated squad provides rival clubs opportunities to exploit them. They have to offload players. If we can get him on loan with option to buy at big discount it could prove to be wise. Not long ago he was touted as rising star. At Southampton he was valued 40m, he then had major injury at Chelsea losing his spot. At 22 he has age on his side. Perhaps with Morata as mentor we can get the best out of him. Ie its a low risk high reward opportunity.

    1. Agree. He was doing well before that injury, which left him out for about a year. Before that, he did well with that team that he was on loan scoring many goals. However, at the current form he is not good enough. But maybe, milan can turn around his form since he is only 22.

  3. Opportunity for wasting money. Get a DM. If Fofana is gone get Matteo Prati. Cheap, young and solid tackler who can also cary the ball and send long passes forward.

  4. I really don’t get it. They decided to send Colombo to yet another loan after very promising preseason and now are looking for striker like Broja. Why? I would understand if they decided to have Morata and Abraham as ST option and thought that Colombo would have limited playing time. But if they are serious about Broja or someone of that profile then they might as well kept Colombo and get him some minutes rotating with Morata

    1. Because Colombo asked to leave and go somewhere where he can play. He didn’t want to be the 3rd choice striker and play once every 2 months.
Colombo wouldn’t be rotating with Morata because Jovic is a much better player than him.

  5. Issue with buying from chelsea is most of their players are high wages. I agree Borja is not a good choice. We need someone who can score 15 goals as backup/rotational CF. Abraham does but with 5m net wages. I like Jovic, people judge him based on his Madrid days but at Frankfurt he was brilliant. His record at Fiorentina wasnt bad either. Give Carmada a chance in copa Italia + less critical games + we have Okafor who can play up top. Issue is Fonseca is insisting on big CF, specifically Abraham.

  6. We have Morata, Okafor, Jovic, Camarda. No need for more strikers. All of them are goal-sensitive, they have already been proven. Let’s go for 2 DM instead!

  7. Anything for a cheap deal lol.

Who cares about quality, fit or injury history.

As long as we can get a player at a huge discount – we will do it. That is our transfer strategy. Because That’s how all the titles wining clubs do it??? 🤡

    Brilliant. Grazie Gerry!

  8. Opportunity? You must have a different definition than I do for opportunity. I would call signing Broja a huge mistake. Why would any team want him? That’s right none do, as there seems to be no interest in him.

  9. We seriously need a striker and the last preseason match against Barca proved we need a striker for the final 3rd half. As much as we need a Dm
