Tuttosport: Milan player ratings for Atalanta draw – duo stand-out; forward struggles

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan players largely drew praise for their performances during last night’s game against Atalanta, which perhaps deserved to be a win rather than a draw.

This morning’s edition of Tuttosport (via our colleagues at SempreMilan.it) writes that while a victory didn’t arrive, Stefano Pioli after a difficult week can look favourably on the overall performance of his men.

The one who inevitably stands out is Rafael Leao who got a 7.5 out of 10 for scoring a brilliant goal after just three minutes and proving to be a constant danger for La Dea, with an outing that showed he can be a leader.

Not far behind the Portuguese is Yacine Adli who showed himself to be very comfortable in a deeper role again, directing the game well and also contributing decisively in the defensive phase, to earn a 7.

Matteo Gabbia also got a 7 for controlling Miranchuk well and then Lookman when he came off the bench, then Theo Hernandez, Alessandro Florenzi, Malick Thiaw and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all given a 6.5.

The evaluation for head coach Stefano Pioli was also positive (6.5) after Milan penned Atalanta in their half of the pitch with 72% ball possession in the first half, though they couldn’t find the spark to win the game.

All the other players got a 6, aside fro Olivier Giroud (5.5) who had a complicated match against Djimsiti, then he was involved in the controversial penalty decision for what VAR adjudged to be a kick on Holm.
