Tuttosport: Milan player ratings from Juventus draw – duo shine; quartet score under 6

By Oliver Fisher -

The game between AC Milan and Juventus at San Siro was far from a classic as the two sides were made to settle for a 0-0 draw, and there was a mixture of good and bad performances.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) carries their player ratings, and the highest score (7) was shared between two players who made a return to the starting line-up in Italy international duo Davide Calabria and Sandro Tonali. The former returned to a top level from the first minute after his calf injury, while the latter dominated in the middle of the field.

Good performances came from Pierre Kalulu, Theo Hernandez, Rade Krunic and Ismael Bennacer who all got a 6.5, while Mike Maignan, Alessio Romagnoli, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao each got a 6.

Half a mark less was awarded to Alexis Saelemaekers and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while the two disappointing notes were Junior Messias and Olivier Giroud who got a 5 as they were both wasteful.

  1. Calabria is so good. With him back I’d like to see Florenzi tried on the right wing a bit. Great combo those two up and down the right flank. I wish there were a way for ibra Leo and Ante to play up top together. Does Rebic feel that uncomfortable on the right?

    1. I don’t think we ever tried it. I would instead play him as a trequartista and play Florenzi or Calabria as RW. Maybe let them switch a few times during the game to create confusion.

      1. Rebic as a trequartista, and gives Theo some options on his runs forward as well, Giroud/Ibra at ST, Leao LW Sael. RW. Calabria too valuable at RB for now, let Florenzi spell him, I do not think he is up to speed but at this point in time yes maybe RW. I mean why quit when you are losing. Surprising Krunic was O.K. and Florenzi has improved each game, Our last gasp at the scudetta is the derby, still think Inter has been lucky with injuries and covid, we are recovering. Show time for the Rossoneri and Pioli.

    2. As to Calabria, last year he was like Theo with his runs forward and reminded me of Cuadrado who I think is one of the best with his service into the box. But I bring this up as I think he played/started RW for 1 or 2 games last year as well. Viva Milano

  2. Saladmaker was great. He should have passed that time, but he created that chance all by himself

Messias fouled in attack like four times, even after yellow. Terrible for the team as we had to construct attack again each time

    Calabria MOTM.
Pitch was as bad as Juventus. They pay their players twice as much as we do ours hahaha

    1. the “Saladmaker” is disliked by many and maybe Pioli ,but I like him for the fact that unless it is a corner kick, headers are harder to come by with services from 45 degree angles and in, he gets it, as does Leao by kicking the ball, it is FOOTball not HEADball, and if (I am sure you watched) he had a couple of great shots on goal in the Spezia game when he got in very late I might add, changed the whole offensive dynamic.

  3. most of our problems are in pitch also. i dont want to blame more on players because the difference is seen when we are away simply the pitch sucks
