Tuttosport: Milan reignite interest in RC Lens midfielder now valued at €25m

AC Milan are in the market for a new midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window and an old flame is still burning, a report claims.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanLive), Milan are still interested in the former Udinese man Seko Fofana who is now shining at RC Lens in Ligue 1, who signed him back in 2020 for a figure of around €8m.

Fofana would be a very useful profile for Milan who have not really replaced Franck Kessie since he left last summer, given he can play as a deeper midfielder, a mezzala and an attacking midfielder.

The Franco-Ivorian is the type of midfield player that Stefano Pioli likes a lot given he is physically strong and could guarantee Milan a triple role, while he also has end product as the 8 goals and 5 assists in 37 appearances this season show.

An obstacle could be the asking price of €25-30m given his contract expires in 2025 so Lens still have leverage. However, qualifying for the next Champions League could guarantee a signing of this caliber.

It must be asked whether RedBird Capital would spend more than €20m for a 28-year-old player though, but if Pioli and Maldini were to convince them he would be worth it then things could take off.
