Tuttosport: Milan readying new Fofana offer – the figure they won’t go above

AC Milan are getting ready to make AS Monaco a new offer for French midfielder Youssouf Fofana but the Rossoneri do not want to go above the €20m mark.

As reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are not giving up on Fofana given he wants to make the move and there is a belief that he would instantly raise the level of the midfield and help to give the defence more support.

Milan are determined not to sign Fofana for more than €20m, which is an issue given Monaco have been sticking to their valuation of €35m.

Given he has one year left on his contract, Milan think that valuation is way off the mark but Monaco have been sticking to it given they are unhappy with Milan agreeing on personal terms with the player before speaking to the club.

Milan’s last offer was €17m in total and it was rejected, so the increase from the Rossoneri is not expected to be drastic.

Milan hope that Monaco will eventually soften on their stance given they will lose the player for free if he does not leave this summer and he has made it clear that he wants to move to Milan this summer.

  1. Absolutely idiotic way of progressing with these talks… they should have offered 18-20mil from the start and Fofana would already be there, yet there were trying with 14mil that only angered Monaco’s owner.

Even if Fofana would join for 20mil now, the season start is in a week. We can have the same story as with Ketelaere – very late signing due to idiotic negotiations that didn’t lower the price, and arriving late to club when season already started didn’t give him enough time to calmly get started with the season and he failed spectacularly…

This deal should already be done and sealed 10 July.

    1. If the the deal sealed 10 July, is no used either. Fofana will also missed the 4 friendlies either like Theo and Maignan, since he will got the same vacation time after Euro. But i got your point, at least Fofana saga ended a week ago, so he can start train with the full squad last saturday, and play friendly against Monza

    2. Ok. Next time you’re in the market for a house or car, make sure you offer your absolute max offer first. The true art of the deal…

      1. Have you ever negotiated a deal?
Because if you are selling and ask a ridiculous price, potential customers will just walk away. Just the if you are buying and offer a ridiculous price, the sellers will walk away.

Obviously you want to negotiate best price, but that is not done by offering a silly number, that’s what amateurs do

Next time you are buying a house offer half the listed price and see what happens.
And if you desperately need somewhere to live (like we need a DM), see how impressed your family are when they have nowhere to live because your trying to save a few €, but end up paying more as new customers are interested.

If by some miracle you get said house, it (like Fofana) will need weeks if not months of work to be ready for purpose. All the while your family and business suffer.
        Bravo!

        1. Easy for you to say with someone else’s money. Also this is a case where the player is in his last year of his contract. So this is more like a foreclosure. Sell now or lose it all in a year.

          1. A negotiation is a negotiation.
Anyway I was replying to Flossonero …”Next time you’re in the market for a house or car”

    3. How is it idiotic?

The offer is fair for the player who is in his last year of his contract. If he had two or more years, then yes your argument would make sense, but it doesn’t. Either they take the 20 million now that’s being offered, or lose him for 10 million in January or for free next summer.

De Ketelaere wasn’t in the last year of his contract from what I recall. Deals happen throughout the entire transfer period and that is how it always has been.

    4. fonseca isn’t stupid, he knows we have great midfield depth and wont rush him into starting in the first, second or maybe even third match days. Also the cdk deal being finished late has nothing to do with his poor form for the rest of the season as he had enough time to settle in by then. i think the reason he was so poor is because pioli didn’t utilize him correctly and was low on confidence and out of favor towards the end of the end of the season.

  2. These bozos never learn. They did it last season with Chuk and he needed a whole season to adapt. They’re finally going to introduce some no name moneyball reject on the last day of mercato and expect Fonseca to perform miracles knowing damn well a quality DM was top priority. Or rather is top priority for the last two seasons already.

    1. Chukwueze adaptation was Pioli’s fault. That had nothing to do with him arriving late after preseason.

Pioli was never going to play him ahead of Pulisic and even when Chukwueze started playing well Pioli still left him on the bench and started Pulisic.

Pioli used Pulisic and Chukwueze together in ONE game and even though the team looked more dominant in attack and played well, Pioli still kept Chukwueze back on the bench which was stupid to say the least because Chukwueze was our most expensive player we signed last season and he needed to play.

So that was all Pioli’s fault. He did the same stupid thing with Simic. When we had a defensive crisis due to injuries he started Theo as a CB instead of paying Simic and recalled Gabbia from Villarreal.

Pioli even rush Thiaw back after a long term injury knowing Thiaw wasn’t match fit instead of using Simic who was ready and capable to play.

If Fofana arrives late this summer it won’t matter much because Fonseca will integrate him into the squad without any issue since Fofana will most likely be the starting midfielder alongside Reinjders.

  3. Yall always make me laugh, The Management has shown you their identity, and have stuck to it, it is not their fault if you have higher expectations, they have said for us to be a valid club that doesn’t need to sell in Italy, we would need to buy opportunity players, that’s our reality, not their Italians teams are in financial trouble for same reason, and trust me an American firm doesn’t want that.

Now what we do know is this, If fofana’s price comes down to the managements range, they will close, if not they won’t, there is no debate, all these our back and for the don’t affect our management, it is what it is, they went out this season, and dropped name, Bar Zirkzee who was obviously expensive, they have gotten everyone else, only Fofana remains and you can see they are trying to make it happen.

As fans all we can do is try to understand fans what that reality is like and support the players on the scene, there are so many angles involved in a transfer, we are not on the board, So we can’t say. This is probably the most stable leadership we have had since Berlusconi days and we saw what hole they dug for us after they sold, success comes with a prize and unfortunately, Milan or Italian football isn’t there yet, but we can, I guess, I m a fan, I can only hope! And show support, you know why, Ibrahimovic doesn’t care if I come on Sempremilan and rant, he will do what he wants to do and as a Milan fan, I can either not watch and boycott or watch and enjoy. That’s it.

  4. This should have been he first position to be fixed DM but they choose to waste 5weeks chasing Zirkzee.

These management need to be précised about the project and targeted players , waiting game cant work all the time.

  5. This management doesn’t learn from its own faults.

They allow negotiations to turn into a saga in some cases without looking for alternatives till it is too late.

They should have looked for alternatives since the day Kessié’s started to stall in his contract negotiations.

They can replaced Maldini, Massara, Furlani and whoever but the idiotic management will stay the same or maybe get even worse with new names trying to keep their job and please don Cardinal.
